Backlink software you run yourself, not an agency retainer. Nobody buys links on your behalf and nobody writes guest posts for you. The agent does the work a link building service bills for: finding relevant blogs in your niche, checking the domain is worth pitching, finding the editor's email, and writing the pitch against that specific post. You approve each email and it sends from a warmed inbox on your own sending domain, which we register and manage for you.

Is MentionAgent an AI SEO agent?
It's an AI agent for one half of SEO: off-page. It doesn't write your blog posts, audit your site, or pick your keywords. It earns mentions and editorial backlinks on other people's sites, which is the part of SEO you cannot do by editing your own pages. Run it alongside whatever on-page or content tool you already use.
How is this different from blogger outreach tools like Pitchbox or BuzzStream?
Traditional blogger outreach tools give you a campaign builder. You supply the prospect list, the templates, and the mailbox, then you run the sequence yourself. MentionAgent supplies all three. The agent picks the prospects, writes each email against the post it found, and sends from an inbox we set up and warm up. Your job is approving drafts, not building campaigns. If you'd rather hand the whole thing off, that is what an SEO outreach agency charges four figures a month for.
Does this only work for SaaS?
No. The agent reads your site, works out what you sell and which blogs cover it, then pitches those. That step is the same for an ecommerce brand, a local service business, an agency or a software product, and paying customers today are spread across all of them. What changes is which blogs it goes after: gift guides and review blogs for a product, city and trade blogs for a local service, tool roundups and alternatives posts for software. The one requirement is that blogs writing about your subject exist, which is true of almost every niche.
Can I tell it which kinds of sites to go after, or which to skip?
Yes. Settings has a Who to target box where you write it in plain English, for example: skip affiliate listicles and go for guides and resource pages instead. The agent reads that when it sorts search results and drops anything you have ruled out before a draft is written, so those sites never reach your approval queue. It applies to every search from then on, and the keywords already running finish up over a few days. Every email still waits for your approval, so nothing goes to a site you do not want even if one gets past the filter.
Is this right for me if my site is brand new?
Yes. Any site can earn mentions, even from day one. Contextual mention exchanges work best when both sides get value, so while your domain rating is still low we focus on sites near your size, where you get the most replies. Each mention you land builds your authority and opens up bigger sites over time. There's no minimum DR or traffic level to start, though you can always check where you stand with Ahrefs' backlink checker.
Do I need technical skills?
Not at all. Everything runs from a simple dashboard: enter your website and the agent builds your outreach profile and handles the rest. Prefer chat? You can also run everything from the Telegram bot.
How does it work?
MentionAgent uses AI to search for blog posts in your niche, finds the author's contact info, drafts a personalized outreach email, and lines it up in your dashboard for approval. Once you approve, the email is sent automatically.
Is the backlink automation fully automatic?
Prospecting, domain qualification, contact lookup, drafting, sending, and follow-ups all run on their own. Approval does not, and that's deliberate. Every draft waits for you in the dashboard or Telegram before it goes out, because link building software that emails on your behalf with no check is how sending domains get burned and how bad pitches reach good editors. Approving a batch takes about a minute.
Can I review emails before they're sent?
Absolutely. Every email waits in your dashboard for approval before it goes out, or in Telegram if you connect the bot. You have full control over what gets sent.
Someone replied to my outreach. What do I have to do to get the backlink?
The agent drafts your reply, and when they're open to it, it proposes a specific page on their site, the exact paragraph, and the sentence to add. You approve that the same way you approve the outreach itself. Most deals are a mutual mention: they add a line about you to a relevant post of theirs, you add a line about them to a post you already published. There is no guest post to write and nothing to pay. We don't buy placements, and the agent turns down sites that ask for a fee. Some editors add you with nothing asked in return, and you can always step into a thread and propose your own arrangement.
How does email sending work?
We register a sending domain for you and set up a dedicated Gmail inbox on it, both included in your subscription. You don't buy a domain, a Google account, or any third-party email tool, and there are no DNS records to add. We warm the inbox up automatically as well, which other tools charge $30-50/month extra for. Keeping outreach on its own domain is the point: whatever happens in a cold inbox can't affect the mail your business runs on.
Do I need to set up DNS or change my domain host?
Nothing at all. Your website's host does not come into it, because the outreach runs on a separate domain we register and manage. Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy, Cloudflare, it makes no difference, and your existing website and email are never touched.
How many emails per month?
Between 40 and 320 a day depending on your plan, which works out at roughly 1,200 to 9,600 a month if you run it daily. Each sending inbox carries up to 40 a day and a site runs at most two inboxes, so any single site tops out at 80. That is a deliberate ceiling: MentionAgent is built for targeted outreach, not mass emailing. Each email is personalized to a specific blog post, which is why response rates are much higher than generic blasts.
One thing to keep in mind: a new inbox does not start at 40. We step it up over the first three weeks, starting at 5 emails a day, because sending too much too fast from a cold inbox lands you in spam. Every inbox warms on its own clock, so adding one raises your total as it ramps rather than the day you buy it. Each runs on its own domain, separate from your website, so your main domain's reputation is never involved.
Why can't I send at full volume on day one?
When you start sending from a new inbox, providers like Gmail and Outlook don't trust you yet. If you send too many emails too fast, they'll land in spam. So we warm it up for you: 5 outreach emails a day in week one, then 10, then 20, reaching the full 40 a day in week four. Warmup mail runs alongside it the whole time to build a sending history. This is standard practice in email outreach and protects your reputation long-term, and you can send real outreach throughout, just at a lower daily volume at first.
Who owns the sending domain? Can I take it with me?
You can take it. The domain is registered in our registrar account and we pay for it while you're subscribed, but it was bought for your outreach, not ours. Ask us and we hand it over free, to whatever registrar you use, whether or not you're still a customer. The only limit is ICANN's, which blocks registrar transfers for the first 60 days after a domain is registered.
If you cancel, the inbox keeps receiving replies to the end of the period you've paid for, and we email you the date the domain would lapse so you can decide in time. Take the domain and every reply to the outreach you've already sent keeps arriving, at a mailbox of your own.
What does it cost, and which plan do I need?
Plans are priced by sending inbox and start at $99/month: $99 for one inbox, $179 for two, $329 for four, $629 for eight. Each inbox carries up to 40 cold emails a day once it is warmed up, and a site runs at most two inboxes, so 80 a day is the ceiling for any one site.
Pick on how many sites you are building links for, not on volume. One site is Starter or Growth, and Growth is the one to take if a single site is already sending as much as it can. Two sites is Scale, four is Agency. You can move up or down whenever you like, and the difference is charged the moment you switch.
Can I export my prospects and email history?
Yes, any time, and you don't have to be leaving to ask. Email support and we send you your prospect list, your threads with the full message text, and your send history in a spreadsheet-friendly format. Your data isn't held hostage to keep you subscribed.
