Link Building Slack Communities, Checked at the Source

Updated 12 October 2026 · Link Building · By Matt

A link building Slack community is a private workspace where site owners trade guest posts, mentions and link swaps. These six were each checked on their own site on 12 October 2026; member counts are the communities' own figures.

Quick answer

For swaps and guest post trades, start with Marketing Lad ($10/mo) or Get Pro Links (free, work email). SaaS marketers can use the free saaslinkbuilder group. Most of these groups are run by link building companies.

Free: Get Pro Links, saaslinkbuilder, Backlinks Slack group.

Paid: Marketing Lad ($10/mo), Superpath ($50/mo after a trial), Traffic Think Tank.

Our data

Of the sites whose reply to MentionAgent outreach discussed a link exchange, 58% turned it down and 31% were open to one, read by hand. A community is where the people already saying yes gather.

  • Marketing Lad has #guest-posting and #link-exchange channels and says its fee "keeps out spammers and link sellers". Its figures are dated October 2026.
  • Get Pro Links describes itself as "an invite-only community for collaborative link-building", open only through a work email.
  • saaslinkbuilder vets applications in one to three business days and admits only staff of SaaS companies.
  • Traffic Think Tank lists 21 channels; link building is one of them, so it suits learning more than trading.

One list ranking for this search gives Marketing Lad as "$20 one-time"; its own page now says $10 a month. Check the join page before you pay.

Who runs these groups

Of the four link-focused communities, every one is run by a company that sells link building or marketing services:

  • Marketing Lad's site sells link building and SEO services next to its Slack.
  • Get Pro Links' pricing page sells link packages, from $299 for 4 links.
  • saaslinkbuilder is a SaaS link building service.
  • The Backlinks Slack group is hosted by Brainspin, a development and marketing agency.

That does not make the groups bad. It means the host is also a seller, so expect some offers in the channels to be paid placements, and ask up front whether a "collaboration" is free.

What cold replies say about link swaps

MentionAgent emails bloggers and proposes a mention exchange by default, so its inbox shows how site owners answer a swap they did not ask for. We took every reply between 4 June and 12 October 2026 that discussed a link exchange and read each one by hand:

ReplyShare of sites
Turned the exchange down58%
Open to an exchange, often with conditions31%
Unclear (a question, or no position taken)11%

More than half of the sites that refused (56%) had quoted MentionAgent a price for a paid placement. On the yes side, the conditions included a minimum DR or traffic level and a relevant page to link from, and a few asked for a three-way (ABC) swap instead of a direct one. In a community, everyone has already opted in to trading, which is the main thing a group gives you over cold email.

Method: MentionAgent's production records, link-building workspaces only, spam replies excluded. A domain counts once; its replies were matched for exchange wording, then read and sorted by hand.

Swaps and Google's rules

Google's spam policies name "Excessive link exchanges ('Link to me and I'll link to you') or partner pages exclusively for the sake of cross-linking" as link spam. A relevant mention between two sites that cover the same topic is a different thing from a running swap list. Keep trades editorial: link where it helps the reader, and turn down offers that only work as an exchange. Our link exchange guide covers where the line sits, and how to respond to exchange requests covers the offers you will get.

If you would rather pitch blogs in your niche directly than trade in a channel, MentionAgent finds relevant posts, finds the editor's email and drafts each pitch for you to approve or auto-send, from $99/mo.

Communities named elsewhere that we could not verify

Lists ranking for this search also name Backlink Masterminds, Online Geniuses, BigSEO, Link Building HQ, the Digital Olympus link building hub, LinkUpSaaS, Outreach Rebels and Link Building World. On 12 October 2026 their sites either did not load for us, showed a bot check, or had no join page we could find, so we left them out rather than repeat others' descriptions. See backlink exchange platforms for sites that run swaps outside Slack.

Pitch blogs instead of waiting in channels

MentionAgent finds blogs in your niche, emails the person who runs each one and brings you their reply to approve. From $99/mo, no per-link fees.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Slack community for link building?

For link swaps and guest post trades, Marketing Lad ($10 a month, 1,000+ members by its own count) and Get Pro Links (free, invite-only, work email). For SaaS marketers only, the saaslinkbuilder community (free, in-house SaaS staff). For SEO discussion more than swaps, Traffic Think Tank (paid).

Are link building Slack groups free?

Some are. Get Pro Links, the saaslinkbuilder community and the Backlinks Slack group are free to join after an application. Marketing Lad charges $10 a month, Superpath $50 a month after a 30-day trial, and Traffic Think Tank is a paid membership.

Who runs link building Slack communities?

Mostly link building companies. Marketing Lad and Get Pro Links both sell link building services, saaslinkbuilder is a SaaS link building service, and the Backlinks Slack group is run by Brainspin, a development and marketing agency.

Is swapping links in a Slack group against Google's rules?

Google's spam policies list "Excessive link exchanges ('Link to me and I'll link to you') or partner pages exclusively for the sake of cross-linking" as link spam. An occasional, relevant mention is not the same as a standing swap arrangement, but a channel built for swaps leans toward the pattern Google names.

Do publishers accept link exchanges?

Fewer than half of those who answered, in MentionAgent's records. Of the sites whose reply discussed a link exchange, read by hand, 58% turned it down and 31% were open to one, often with conditions such as a minimum DR or a three-way arrangement.
