MentionAgent Developer & Agent Resources

Everything on mentionagent.ai that is meant to be read by a program

MentionAgent is an agentic link building and outreach platform. This page lists the parts of mentionagent.ai that are published for machines: the open API endpoints, the OpenAPI description, the files an AI agent should read first, and how to fetch any page here as markdown.

The product itself is driven from the dashboard, Telegram, and the MCP server, which lets your own agent review drafts and answer replies with a key you create in the dashboard, and the Claude SEO skill, a Claude Code plugin that packages that server with the outreach loop already written down. There is no public write API beyond that. What is below is open, read-only, and needs no account.

Machine-readable files

FileWhat it is for
/llms.txtSummary of MentionAgent and an index of the pages worth reading, in the llms.txt format.
/agent-instructions.mdWhen to use MentionAgent, when it is the wrong answer, and how an agent should call this site.
/openapi.jsonOpenAPI 3.1 description of the three public endpoints below.
/sitemap-index.xmlSitemap index pointing at every section sitemap.
/robots.txtCrawler directives. Every user agent is allowed.

Fetching any page as markdown

Every page on mentionagent.ai serves markdown from the same URL a browser opens, following the acceptmarkdown.com convention. Ask for it with an Accept header:

curl -H "Accept: text/markdown" https://mentionagent.ai/blog/guest-posting/

If you cannot set headers, append .md to the path instead. Both spellings return the same body:

curl https://mentionagent.ai/blog/guest-posting.md
curl https://mentionagent.ai/blog/guest-posting/index.md

The rules the server follows:

  • HTML stays the default. A request with no Accept, or Accept: */*, gets the same HTML a browser gets.
  • Markdown is returned when you name text/markdown and rank it at least as high as text/html. Quality values are honoured, so Accept: text/markdown;q=0.5, text/html returns HTML.
  • Both variants carry Vary: Accept, Accept-Encoding, so a shared cache keeps them apart.
  • A request that accepts neither type gets 406 Not Acceptable.
  • The markdown is generated from the page itself, so it can never drift from what a reader sees. Decorative product mock-ups are excluded, which means the example numbers inside the dashboard screenshots on the homepage are not in the markdown. They were never real figures.

Missing pages

A path that does not exist returns a real 404 status, never a 200 with an app shell. The body is markdown listing the entry points to recover from, so a wrong guess at a URL costs one request:

curl -s -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code}" https://mentionagent.ai/no-such-page
404

Public API endpoints

Three read-only endpoints back the free tools on this site. They need no key, they are rate limited per IP, and they are not a bulk data source. The OpenAPI description covers the same three with full schemas.

GET /api/domain-rating

Ahrefs Domain Rating for one domain, on the 0 to 100 scale. Accepts a bare domain, a www host or a full URL.

curl "https://mentionagent.ai/api/domain-rating?target=ahrefs.com"

{"domain":"ahrefs.com","domainRating":91}

Returns 400 for a missing or malformed target, 429 when the upstream rate limit is hit, and 502 when the rating service cannot be reached. Open PageRank is never substituted: it is a 0 to 10 scale and the two numbers are not comparable.

GET /api/pagerank

Open PageRank scores, up to 10 domains per request, 10 requests per IP per hour. Repeat domains[] once per domain.

curl "https://mentionagent.ai/api/pagerank?domains[]=ahrefs.com&domains[]=moz.com"

The Open PageRank response is passed through unchanged. Returns 400 with no domains or more than 10, and 429 over the hourly limit.

GET /api/stats

The two counters published on the MentionAgent homepage, computed from the production database and cached for 10 minutes.

curl https://mentionagent.ai/api/stats

{"editorsPitched":15232,"blogsResearched":33269}

The shape is fixed; the numbers move. editorsPitched counts distinct contacts sent at least one pitch, and blogsResearched counts prospect blogs researched across all workspaces.

Rate limits and fair use

  • /api/pagerank: 10 requests per IP per hour.
  • /api/domain-rating and /api/stats: no fixed per-IP quota, but both sit behind upstream limits and a shared cache. Space out repeated calls.
  • Page fetches, HTML or markdown, are not rate limited. Crawl politely.
  • A 429 means back off, not retry immediately.

What MentionAgent does

If you arrived here looking for the product rather than the endpoints: MentionAgent runs the full link building and PR outreach workflow with an AI agent. It finds relevant blogs in your niche, looks up editor contacts, writes a personalized pitch tied to a specific article, sends it, and follows up. You approve every email before it leaves. Plans are priced by sending inbox and start at $99 a month. See pricing, the AI outreach agent page, or the agent instructions for the short machine-readable version.
