Affordable SEO Packages: 7 Tier Ladders Side by Side, and the Price Per Unit

Tiers and prices read from each vendor's page on 14 September 2026 · which of our own $99 customers stayed and which cancelled

A package is not a price, it is a ladder. Every vendor that sells "affordable SEO packages" sells three or four rungs, and the interesting question is not what the bottom rung costs but what you are buying more of as you climb: keywords, pages, hours, backlinks a month, or sending capacity. Once you know the unit, you can work out the price per unit on each rung, and once you have that, the word "affordable" stops meaning anything and the arithmetic takes over. This page lines up seven ladders that publish their rungs, all read on 14 September 2026, and puts ours among them. It ends with the one number a package page never shows: of the thirty accounts that bought our bottom rung, which ones are still paying and what the ones who left had done with it.

The companion page, affordable SEO services, itemises what each single package includes and how that market ranks. This one is about the shape of the ladders, so the two do not repeat each other.

Quick answer

Seven ladders, bottom rungs from $99 to $500, top rungs from $499 to $3,000. Each scales on one unit, and the unit price falls only modestly as you climb, so buy the rung whose unit you actually need.

Units: keywords and pages (theaffordableseoservices.com), keywords and backlinks (Digital Guider), hours (eSEOspace), keywords and citation rounds (99dollarlocalseo.com), sending inboxes (MentionAgent).

Where links start: rung two at theaffordableseoservices.com ($599, 2 to 4 a month); rung one at Digital Guider ($500, 40 a month); never on the local ladders.

Billing traps: one ladder prices "when billed annually", one needs 30 days' notice, four are month to month.

Our data

Of 30 accounts on our $99 rung, 14 are active and 15 cancelled. Active accounts that sent email have a median of 431 sends; cancelled ones that sent have a median of 37. Five who cancelled never sent one.

Reached 300 sends: 7 of 14 active, 2 of 15 cancelled.

Got a publisher price quote: 11 of 14 active, 3 of 15 cancelled.

Timing: 5 of the 12 cancellations with a known start date came inside two months. Read from the database 14 September 2026.

The unit each ladder sells

Read enough package pages and you notice that the tiers are never described in the same currency. theaffordableseoservices.com counts keywords and pages: 5 to 8 keywords and 5 pages at the bottom, 20 to 30 keywords and 20 pages at the top. Digital Guider counts keywords and backlinks a month, and the backlink count is the number it puts in the biggest type. eSEOspace counts hours, and says so plainly: five hours of SEO, GEO and AEO work at $500, forty at $3,000, spent wherever the strategist thinks they matter. 99dollarlocalseo.com counts keywords and citation rounds. Mainstreethost names its rungs Essentials, Standard, Premium and Custom and does not count anything on the packages page. MentionAgent counts sending inboxes, because the thing our software scales is the number of outreach emails that can go out in a day.

The unit tells you what the vendor believes moves rankings, or at least what it can measure and bill. Keywords are the oldest unit and the emptiest: a keyword "targeted" costs the vendor nothing to add to a list. Pages and hours are honest units because they map to labour. Backlinks per month are honest only if you know where they come from. Inboxes are honest about capacity and silent about outcome, which is why the last section of this page is about outcome.

Seven ladders side by side

Every figure below is from the vendor's own page on 14 September 2026. Mainstreethost's prices are the "when billed annually" figures its page shows; it does not show monthly ones. Vendors on these results pages that publish no tiers (seoTuners, Blackbird Digital, WebTek, Elsner, OuterBox and others) are left out because a ladder with no rungs cannot be compared.

Price per unit as you climb

Divide each rung's price by its unit count and the discount for climbing appears, or fails to.

  • Digital Guider, per backlink: $500 / 40 = $12.50; $700 / 60 = $11.67; $1,000 / 100 = $10; $1,800 / 200 = $9. A 28% fall from bottom to top. Per keyword the same ladder runs $16.67 to $18.
  • theaffordableseoservices.com, per keyword (midpoint of the range): $299 / 6.5 = $46; $599 / 12.5 = $48; $999 / 25 = $40. Per page: $60, $60, $50. The middle rung is not cheaper per unit than the bottom one; you climb for the links and the strategy call, not for a discount.
  • eSEOspace, per hour: $100 at $500, $80 at $1,200, $75 at $1,500, $75 at $3,000. The one ladder where the unit is labour and the price per unit says so.
  • 99dollarlocalseo.com, per keyword: $50 at the bottom, $50 in the middle. The top rung adds services rather than keywords.
  • MentionAgent, per inbox: $99, $89.50, $82.25, $78.63. A 21% fall from one inbox to eight. Per daily email at full warmup: about $2.48 a day of capacity on every rung, because each inbox carries the same 40.

The pattern across all of them: nobody's top rung is half the unit price of their bottom rung. Climbing a cheap SEO ladder buys more of the unit at roughly the same rate; it does not buy the unit cheaper. So the decision is only ever "how many units do I need", never "how do I get the best rate", and for most single-site buyers the honest answer to the first question is the bottom rung of whichever ladder sells the right unit.

What the bottom rung leaves out

The cheapest rung on every ladder is defined by what it drops, and the drops are consistent. theaffordableseoservices.com's $299 has no backlinks and no content; those arrive at $599. 99dollarlocalseo.com's $99.99 has one citation round and no review work; two rounds and review automation arrive at $299.99. Digital Guider's $500 audits two pages for AI visibility where the top rung audits more, and covers 10 Google Business Profiles where the top covers 40. eSEOspace's $500 is five hours, which its own page describes as "best for getting started". Mainstreethost's Essentials is "a flexible, low-risk solution", which is a description of the buyer's exposure, not of the work.

Ours drops in the same way and it is worth saying what: one inbox means one warmed sending domain, so the first month is a ramp (5 a day in week one, 10, 20, then 40 from week four) rather than a full month of sending, and one site means the second site you own gets nothing until the $329 rung. What it does not drop is any part of the loop: prospecting, drafting, sending, reply handling and placement tracking are the same at $99 as at $629, because the unit we sell is capacity, not features.

Three of the seven ladders never mention a backlink: the two local ones and Mainstreethost, whose packages page lists no deliverables at all. One puts links on every rung in volume: Digital Guider, 40 to 200 a month, at $9 to $12.50 each. One puts them on rung two: theaffordableseoservices.com, 2 to 4 a month from $599, 8 to 10 from $999. eSEOspace sells hours, and whether an hour becomes a link is the strategist's call. Ours sells nothing but the pursuit of links and promises no count, for a reason the services page gives in full: when a publisher answers an outreach email with a price, the middle of what they ask is $175 for one placement, and the vendors quoting forty links a month at $500 are not paying that.

So the ladders divide into two markets that share a search results page. The local and on-page ladders are for businesses that need their own site and profile fixed. The link ladders are for sites that are already worth linking to. Buying rung three of the first kind will not get you what rung one of the second kind does, and the price will not warn you.

Our ladder: inboxes

The four rungs are $99, $179, $329 and $629 a month, for 1, 2, 4 and 8 sending inboxes, each on its own sending domain so your main domain's reputation is never the one at risk. A warmed inbox sends up to 40 outreach emails a day, and a site runs at most two inboxes, so 80 a day is the ceiling for any one site; the $329 and $629 rungs exist to cover two and four sites, not to push one site harder. Every rung is billed monthly with no setup fee, no per-seat fee and no contract, and the first 50 credits are free with no card, which is enough to see the prospect list and the first drafts for a site before deciding whether the $99 rung is the right one. Sends and AI drafts cost 2 credits each against the plan's monthly allowance, and prospect search, contact extraction and domain qualification cost none. The pricing page has the credit table.

Who stayed on the $99 rung, and who left

Every account that has ever paid MentionAgent bought the $99 rung, so the bottom of our ladder has a complete record: thirty accounts as of 14 September 2026, fourteen still paying, fifteen cancelled, one past due. A package page never shows this split. Ours does, because the split explains the rung better than the feature list.

Reached 300 sends72
Received at least one publisher price quote113
Received at least one positive reply1111
Months on the plan, median1.0 (joined recently)2.5

The reading is uncomfortable and useful. The accounts that stayed are the ones that ran the thing: they got past the warmup ramp, sent hundreds of emails, and started getting quotes from publishers to accept or refuse. The accounts that left mostly did not: a third never sent a single email, and the median sender among them stopped at 37, which is inside week two of the ramp. Both groups got positive replies at the same rate once anything was sent (11 of 14 and 11 of 15), so the difference is not that outreach worked for one group and not the other. The difference is whether the batch got reviewed and approved in the first fortnight. Five of the twelve cancellations with a known start date happened inside two months.

That is the honest description of a $99 rung, ours or anyone's: it is priced for a buyer who will do the one thing the price does not cover, which on our ladder is reading the drafts. A package that promises to remove that step at $99 is describing labour the price cannot contain, and the $99 SEO page goes through what the vendors at that price actually deliver instead.

Billing, notice and guarantees

The rung price is only half the commitment. Mainstreethost's $149 is the rate "when billed annually", which is $1,788 up front for a tier whose deliverables are not itemised, and its monthly rate is not shown. seorankmybusiness.com bills monthly with no contract but requires a 30-day emailed cancellation notice before the next billing date, so a decision to leave costs one more month. theaffordableseoservices.com states no setup fee and no long-term contract. Third Marble states "pause or stop anytime". Ours is month to month with no notice period and a 14-day money-back guarantee. seorankmybusiness.com's guarantee is the stronger-sounding one, "don't rank, don't pay", and cheapseo.io offers a refund "if not getting sufficient results"; neither page defines rank or sufficient, so read the terms before relying on either.

Picking a rung

  1. Name the unit you are short of. Keywords is never the answer. Pages fixed, citations built, hours of a competent person, or links pursued: pick the one your site lacks, then pick the ladder that sells it.
  2. Start on the bottom rung of that ladder. The unit price barely falls as you climb, so nothing is lost by starting low and moving up once the bottom rung has been used in full.
  3. Treat "when billed annually" as a different price. Multiply by twelve and ask whether you would sign that number today for a tier you have not seen deliver.
  4. Ask what the rung above adds, precisely. If the answer is "more keywords", it adds nothing you cannot add yourself. If it is "backlinks start here" or "a second inbox", it is a real step.
  5. Use the rung before judging it. On our data the difference between staying and leaving was not the plan, it was whether the first batch went out. Give any bottom rung one full cycle of its own unit before deciding.

Frequently asked questions

What do affordable SEO packages cost per month?

The seven package ladders on page one that publish prices (checked 14 September 2026) start at $99 (seorankmybusiness.com), $99.99 (99dollarlocalseo.com, up to $499.99), $149 billed annually (Mainstreethost, up to $999), $299 (theaffordableseoservices.com, up to $999), $500 (Digital Guider, up to $1,800), $500 (eSEOspace, up to $3,000 in hours) and $99 (MentionAgent, up to $629 by sending inbox). Every ladder has three or four rungs and most double or triple in price between the bottom and the top.

What changes between the tiers of an SEO package?

Each vendor picks one unit to scale on. theaffordableseoservices.com scales keywords (5 to 8, 10 to 15, 20 to 30) and pages (5, 10, 20) and adds backlinks only from the middle rung. Digital Guider scales keywords (30 to 100) and backlinks per month (40 to 200). eSEOspace scales hours (5 to 40). 99dollarlocalseo.com scales keywords (2 to 6) and citation rounds (1 to 2). MentionAgent scales sending inboxes (1, 2, 4, 8) and therefore daily outreach volume (40 to 320 emails a day).

Is the cheapest tier of an SEO package worth buying?

Only if its scope matches your problem, because the bottom rung is the one where the expensive parts are cut. At $299 theaffordableseoservices.com has no backlinks; at $99.99 99dollarlocalseo.com covers two keywords; at $500 eSEOspace is five hours. On our own $99 tier the customers who stayed sent a median of 431 emails and the ones who cancelled sent a median of 37, so the cheapest rung works for the people who run it and not for the people who buy it and wait.

Does the price per unit fall on higher tiers?

Usually a little, sometimes not at all. Digital Guider's backlinks go from $12.50 each at $500 to $9 each at $1,800. theaffordableseoservices.com's keywords go from about $46 each at $299 to about $40 at $999. eSEOspace falls from $100 an hour on the bottom rung to $75 on the top two. Our inboxes go from $99 each on the first tier to about $79 each on the eight-inbox tier. Nobody's top tier is half the unit price of their bottom tier; the discount for climbing is modest everywhere.

Monthly or annual billing for a cheap SEO package?

Monthly, until a package has proved itself. Mainstreethost's $149 is a price when billed annually, which commits $1,788 to a tier whose deliverables are not itemised on the page. seorankmybusiness.com is monthly but needs 30 days' emailed notice. theaffordableseoservices.com, Third Marble and MentionAgent are month to month with no notice. On our own data 5 of the 12 cancellations with a known start date happened inside two months, which is exactly the period an annual contract would have locked in.

Which package tier does MentionAgent recommend?

The $99 single-inbox tier for one site, and only after the 50 free credits have shown you the prospects and drafts for that site. The $179 tier adds a second inbox on the same site, which doubles daily volume to 80 and is the ceiling per site; $329 and $629 are for two and four sites. Nobody should start above $99, because the only thing a higher tier adds is sending capacity, and capacity is worth nothing until the first batch has been reviewed and sent.
