Eyewear Blogs: 42 Sites Checked Live, From Trade Press to Independent Opticians
The phrase eyewear blog covers a trade press that publishes daily, a handful of frame brands with a content team, a dozen online retailers whose blog exists to rank, and a small number of people who write about glasses because they love them. The last group is the one people are looking for when they search, and it is the group that has mostly stopped.
We opened all of it on 11 September 2026: every site ranking for eyewear, glasses and sunglasses blogs in the United States that turned out to publish anything, with an Ahrefs domain rating for each host and the newest date from each site's own feed. The table sorts them by what they are, because a DR 72 trade magazine and a DR 6 eyewear enthusiast are not competing for the same reader.
Forty two eyewear sites, all loaded on 11 September 2026. Only 17 expose a feed, the lowest of any niche we have checked, and ten of those had posted in the previous 90 days. Median DR 32.5.
The enthusiast blogs are dormant: The Eyewear Blog last posted March 2024, Behind My Glasses December 2022, Eyewear Blogger September 2022.
The trade press is current: INVISION posted on the day we checked, TEF Eyewear Magazine and Spectr within the week.
Twenty five sites gave no feed. Almost all are retailers and brands on platforms that hide it. They are marked no feed found, not inactive.
For eyewear as an industry, Vision Monday (DR 71), 20/20 (DR 60) and INVISION (DR 58). For eyewear as an obsession, The Eyewear Blog and Behind My Glasses, both quiet since 2024 or earlier.
Independent frame design: TEF Eyewear Magazine, Spectr, The View Eyewear directory.
Lens and sunglass reviews: Sunglass Science, the Luxury Eyewear Forum.
Opticians who blog: EuroOptica, Eyes on Brickell, Annapolis Opticians, Eye Elegance, The Last Optical.
How the list was checked
Twelve eyewear, glasses and sunglasses searches produced 107 unique domains. Sixty five were dropped after loading: lens manufacturers with corporate sites and no blog, a fashion magazine, a travel-gear reviewer, a clothing boutique, wholesale-only distributors, the international storefronts of Essilor and Silhouette, and three retailers that returned a 403 to MentionAgent's crawler with no way to confirm they publish. Forty two remained.
Each survivor was loaded with a browser user agent, looked up against the Ahrefs domain rating API, and asked for an RSS or Atom feed. Only 17 sites gave one. That is by far the lowest feed coverage of any niche we have measured, and the reason is the platform mix: most eyewear sites are Shopify or a similar storefront, which does not advertise a feed. Twenty five sites are therefore marked No feed found, and for a retailer that means we could not date the blog, not that the blog is dead.
No site in the final 42 blocked the crawler.
The optical trade press
These write for opticians, optometrists and frame buyers, and they are the only part of the niche that publishes every day.
Vision Monday (visionmonday.com, DR 71) is the ophthalmic industry's news site. 20/20 Magazine (2020mag.com, DR 60) is the frame and fashion title. Review of Optometry (reviewofoptometry.com, DR 72) is clinical. None of the three exposes a feed, so all three carry a rating and no date. INVISION (invisionmag.com, DR 58), written for independent optical retailers, posted on the day we checked.
TEF Eyewear Magazine (theeyewearforum.com, DR 42) covers independent eyewear and posted 9 Sep 2026. Spectr (spectr-magazine.com, DR 48) is the design-led title, dated 8 Sep 2026. VisionPlus (visionplusmag.com, DR 32) and the United Opticians Association (opticians.org, DR 30) both posted 1 Sep 2026.
The eyewear enthusiast blogs
This is what people mean by eyewear blog, and it is a short and mostly historical list.
The Eyewear Blog (theeyewearblog.com, DR 18) is written by an eyewear designer and author, and its feed stops on 8 Mar 2024. Behind My Glasses (behindmyglasses.com, DR 8) collected eyewear design and last posted 22 Dec 2022. Eyewear Blogger (eyewearblogger.com, DR 6) stops on 26 Sep 2022. All three still load, all three still rank, and all three are the sites every other eyewear roundup lists without mentioning the dates.
The two that are current are narrower. Sunglass Science (sunglassscience.com, DR 14) is a lens review community, dated 15 Jun 2026. The Luxury Eyewear Forum (luxuryeyewearforum.com, DR 20) is a discussion board rather than a blog. The View Eyewear (vieweyewear.com, DR 17) is a directory of independent luxury designers with editorial attached, and Ed & Sarna (edandsarna.com, DR 19) writes about the vintage designer frames it sells.
Frame brands and retailers that publish
A brand blog is marketing, but the better ones are the only place a given frame's design story gets told, and the retailers' style guides are what actually rank for most eyewear questions.
The big retailers: Glasses.com (DR 68, eye wellness guides), FramesDirect (framesdirect.com, DR 69), GlassesUSA (glassesusa.com, DR 71) and Zenni (zennioptical.com, DR 73, the highest rating in the list). None exposes a feed.
The independent brands: Vint & York (vintandyork.com, DR 46), David Kind (davidkind.com, DR 39), eyebobs (eyebobs.com, DR 45, readers), Vontelle (vontelle.com, DR 47, culturally inspired frames), Sunski (sunski.com, DR 61), RAEN (raen.com, DR 55), Proof (iwantproof.com, DR 52, wood and acetate), Kraywoods (kraywoods.com, wooden frames), Stoggles (stoggles.com, prescription safety glasses) and Velvet Eyewear (velveteyewear.com). Every one is a storefront without a readable feed, so the table shows ratings only.
Shark Eyes (sharkeyes.com, DR 25) and OE Wholesale (oesunglasses.com, DR 45) are wholesale sunglass suppliers; Shark Eyes is the site whose 23-blog list currently ranks on page one for this search. All American Eyeglass Repair (americaneyeglassrepair.com, DR 28) is the one service business, dated 18 May 2026.
Independent opticians and optometrists
Small, local, and among the most recently updated sites in the whole list, because a practice blog is usually written by the owner.
Eyes on Brickell (eyesonbrickell.com, DR 11, Miami) posted 9 Sep 2026. Kuzo Eye Care (kuzoeyecare.com, York PA) posted 1 Sep 2026. Switalski Eye Care (switalskieyecare.com, Dallas), Annapolis Opticians (annapolisopticians.com, DR 7), Poudre Valley Eyecare (poudrevalleyeyecare.com, DR 17, Fort Collins), Spectacular Eyewear (spectaculareyewear.net, Plainview NY) and Good Looks Eyewear (goodlookseyewear.com) all carried a 2026 date.
EuroOptica (eurooptica.com, DR 30, New York), Eye Elegance (eyeelegance.com, DR 14, Houston) and The Last Optical (thelastoptical.com, DR 13, Montgomery NY) are luxury independents whose sites carry no feed.
A barbell, with nobody in the middle writing
Domain Rating runs from 2 to 73 here with a median of 32.5, but the shape matters more than the median: eight sites at DR 60 or above (retailers and trade titles) and sixteen at 24 or below (opticians and enthusiasts), with the brands in between. The strong end does not blog in any personal sense and the weak end is either a local practice or a site that stopped in 2024.
That gap is the opportunity in this niche. There is no active, independent, mid-rated eyewear blog, which is why a wholesale sunglass supplier's list of blogs ranks on page one for the search. Anyone who started one and kept it up for a year would own the query.
If you want coverage from one of these
Frame and lens brands pitch the trade press, and the trade press has an editorial calendar and a rate card; go through it. The enthusiast blogs are not reading their inboxes, whatever the roundups say. The realistic targets for a mention are the independent opticians, who write their own blogs and will feature a frame line they actually stock, and TEF and Spectr, who cover independent design and want to hear about new frames.
The date column tells you which of those is publishing this quarter. If you are working the list, blogger outreach tools covers doing it at volume and the templates we use are written to be edited per site; MentionAgent's own agent does the prospecting and the first draft and leaves the reply to you.

Frequently asked questions
What are the best eyewear blogs?
For the industry, Vision Monday (DR 71), 20/20 Magazine (DR 60) and INVISION (DR 58). For independent frame design, TEF Eyewear Magazine and Spectr, both current in September 2026. The enthusiast blogs people usually mean, The Eyewear Blog and Behind My Glasses, last posted in March 2024 and December 2022.
Are eyewear blogs still active?
The trade press and the independent opticians are. The enthusiast blogs are not: of the 17 sites here that expose a feed, ten had posted in the 90 days before 11 September 2026 and none of those ten is a personal eyewear blog. Twenty five sites, mostly retailers, expose no feed at all.
Why are retailers and brands included?
Because their style guides are what actually ranks for most eyewear questions, and because a brand blog is often the only place a frame's design gets written about. They are separated from the enthusiast blogs and the trade press in the table so you can skip them if you want.
Why do so many sites show no feed?
Most eyewear sites are Shopify or similar storefronts, which do not advertise an RSS feed. Twenty five of the 42 gave none. They are marked "No feed found", which means we could not read a date, not that the site is inactive.
What does Domain Rating tell you here?
Ahrefs' 0 to 100 estimate of inbound links. The list is a barbell: eight sites at 60 or above, all retailers and trade titles, and sixteen at 24 or below, all opticians and enthusiasts. There is no active independent blog in the middle, which is the gap in this niche.
