Natural Hair Blogs: 35 Sites Checked Live, With Domain Rating and Last Post

The natural hair blog was one of the defining formats of the 2010s, and most of the names from that era still rank: CurlyNikki, Black Girl Long Hair, Thirsty Roots, Natural Hair Mag. What no roundup tells you is that the format moved to video and the blogs mostly stopped. Thirsty Roots' feed ends in 2017. Natural Hair Mag's ends in 2023.

On 11 September 2026 we opened every site that ranks for natural hair blogs in the United States, kept the ones that publish about textured hair, pulled an Ahrefs domain rating for each and read the newest date from each site's own feed. The list below separates the surviving blogs from the media sites and the product brands, because those are the three kinds of site left, and they are not interchangeable.

How the list was checked

Thirteen natural, curly, 4C and loc searches produced 93 unique domains. Fifty eight were dropped after loading: general beauty and fashion magazines that rank for a single natural hair article, a stylist booking platform, two AI hair-analysis apps, a planner brand, a South African blog, and a long tail of Shopify curl-product stores whose blog is a product feed. Thirty five remained.

Each survivor was loaded with a browser user agent, looked up against the Ahrefs domain rating API, and asked for its RSS or Atom feed. Eighteen sites gave a date. Thirteen gave no feed, most of them brands on storefront platforms, and are marked No feed found. One site, Locticians, returned a feed whose newest item is dated in the future, which we treat as unreadable rather than as a post.

Four sites served a bot challenge rather than a page: naturallycurly.com, mielleorganics.com, seriouslynatural.org and naturalhairforbeginners.com. All four resolve a rating and appear without a date.

The natural hair blogs, and which ones still post

CurlyNikki (curlynikki.com, DR 53) is the best-known name and still loads, though it exposes no feed we could date. Black Hair Information (blackhairinformation.com, DR 36) is the most current of the established sites and posted on 11 Sep 2026. Hair Romance (hairromance.com, DR 51), a curly hair tutorial blog, last posted 22 Sep 2025.

Coil by Coil Notes (thekinkandi.com, DR 7) is an independent guide to natural hair care and posted 8 Sep 2026; at DR 7 it is one of the smallest sites here and one of only two independent blogs that published this summer. Curly Hair Adventures (curlyhairadventures.com) is the other, travel and natural hair, 5 Jul 2026. The Tennille Life (thetennillelife.com, DR 34) posted 4 Feb 2026.

The rest of the classic blogs have stopped. Thirsty Roots (thirstyroots.com, DR 35) ends 19 Sep 2017. Black Natural and Proud Sistas (naturalandproud.com, DR 30, 4C hair) ends 9 Nov 2022. Toia Barry (toiabarry.com) ends 4 Feb 2023. Natural Hair Mag (naturalhairmag.com, DR 14) ends 5 Apr 2023. All four still rank, which is why they keep appearing in lists.

Black Curl Magic (blackcurlmagic.com, DR 28), which holds the top organic result for this search, Neno Natural (nenonatural.com, DR 20), The Coil Coach (thecoilcoach.com, 4C and type 4 hair) and Curl Maven (curlmaven.ie, Irish, ranks in the US) publish without a readable feed. Seriously Natural and Natural Hair For Beginners blocked the crawler.

Locs, microlocs and the 4C corner

The loc community has its own small set of sites, and they are among the more recently updated here. Holistic Locs (holisticlocs.com, DR 3.9) last posted 4 Sep 2025. Microlocs and Me (microlocsandme.blog) is a personal journey blog dated 11 Mar 2026. Locticians (locticians.com, DR 25) is a community and directory for natural hair professionals. Nice Locs (nicelocs.com) is a downtown Atlanta loc studio whose site publishes without a feed.

Bold Kulture Beauty (boldkulture.com, DR 8) makes 4C hair care and its blog last posted 17 Jul 2025. Salon Nirvana 954 (salonnirvana954.com) in Fort Lauderdale is the one salon blog in the set, dated 22 Aug 2026.

The media sites and the brands that publish

NaturallyCurly (naturallycurly.com, DR 72) is the strongest domain in the list and the site that defined the category; it blocked our crawler, so it carries a rating and no date. Un-ruly (un-ruly.com, DR 49) is a Black hair platform with articles, dated 8 Jun 2026. Black Beauty & Hair (blackbeautyandhair.com, DR 42) is a British magazine that ranks in the US, dated 27 Aug 2026. Voice of Hair (voiceofhair.com, DR 31) last posted 8 Oct 2025. Curlee (curlee.me, DR 34) is a stylist directory whose ten-blog list currently ranks on page one for this search.

The brands are where the ratings are. PATTERN Beauty (patternbeauty.com, DR 64), Mielle Organics (mielleorganics.com, DR 71), Design Essentials (designessentials.com, DR 58), Miss Jessie's (missjessies.com, DR 53), Afrocenchix (afrocenchix.com, DR 51), NaturAll Club (naturallclub.com, DR 47), Alikay Naturals (alikaynaturals.com, DR 36) and Hairobics (hairobicsallnatural.com, DR 32) all run a blog inside a storefront, and none of them exposes a feed. Where the authority went

Domain Rating runs from 0 to 72 here with a median of 31. Thirteen sites sit at DR 24 or below and three at 60 or above, and all three of those are a media site (NaturallyCurly) and two product brands (Mielle, PATTERN). The blogs that built the category in the 2010s now sit in the 30s and 50s on the strength of old links, while the two independent blogs that actually posted this summer sit at DR 7 and DR 2.4.

That is what a niche looks like after its writers move to YouTube and TikTok. The authority is still on the web; the activity is not. For a brand, it means the pages worth a mention are the media sites and the handful of live blogs, and the classic names are archives.

If you want a mention from one of these

Curl-care brands pitch natural hair sites more than any other beauty niche, and most of the pitches land on blogs whose feeds stopped years ago. Check the date first. A blogger who last posted in 2022 has moved platforms, and her contact form goes nowhere.

The realistic targets are Black Hair Information, Un-ruly and Black Beauty & Hair among the media, and Coil by Coil Notes and the loc blogs among the independents. Those authors read what is sent to them and answer to something specific about their hair, not to a product deck. For a blog that is actually current, Black Hair Information posted on the day we checked, 11 September 2026, and Coil by Coil Notes and Curly Hair Adventures both posted that summer. Most of the classic names have stopped.

Are natural hair blogs still active?

Mostly not. Of the 18 sites here that gave a feed date, only five had posted in the 90 days before 11 September 2026, the lowest rate of any niche we have measured this way. Thirsty Roots ends in 2017, Black Natural and Proud in 2022, Natural Hair Mag in 2023. The format moved to video.

Why are product brands in a list of blogs?

Because they are what ranks now. Design Essentials' own article on natural hair bloggers sits on page one for this search, and the brands hold the highest ratings in the niche. They are separated from the blogs and media in the table so you can skip them.

Why are four sites shown without a date?

NaturallyCurly, Mielle Organics, Seriously Natural and Natural Hair For Beginners served our crawler a bot challenge on 11 September 2026. They are live, their ratings resolve, and they are marked "Blocked to our crawler" rather than given a date we did not read.

What is Domain Rating and why is it here?

Ahrefs' 0 to 100 estimate of how many other sites link to a domain. Median in this list is 31. It is included because it shows where the authority went: the classic blogs still hold ratings in the 30s and 50s from old links, while the two independents that posted this summer sit at DR 7 and DR 2.4.
