Macrame Blogs: 26 Sites Ranked by Domain Rating and Activity (2026)

September 2026 · Original data from 26 sites plus 2,056 outreach conversations

Quick answer

Twenty six macrame and fiber art sites, audited 4 September 2026. Nine posted inside 90 days. Median DR 28, and the ceiling is 55.

Not one site reaches DR 60. That is rare, and it means there is no dominant publisher to outrank here.

Most current: rebecca-angela.com.au and firstdayofhome.com had both published within 24 hours of the audit.

Our data

We also opened our own outreach database to answer the question these lists never do: once a blogger replies, what do they actually say, and how far does it get?

1,479 of 2,056 conversations never went past the first message. Only 306 ran two exchanges or more.

Declining was the top intent at 183 replies, against 74 interested, 54 agreeing and 29 confirmed links.

Nine sites exposed no feed, so their activity is recorded as unknown rather than stale.

Macrame went from a 1970s punchline to a genuine craft economy in about a decade, and the writing followed it. There are now dozens of sites publishing free patterns, knot tutorials and fiber art criticism, most of them run by one person who also sells cord or finished pieces. If you supply that market, those sites are your distribution. The trouble is working out which of them still exist.

On 4 September 2026 we ran twelve searches across macrame, fiber art and knotting, dropped the marketplaces and social platforms, and audited the 26 publishing sites that remained. Every one got a live page load, an Ahrefs domain rating, and a last published date taken from its own feed. Then, because a list of sites is only half the question, we pulled 2,056 real outreach conversations to show what happens once you actually email people like this.

How we measured

Three checks per site, all on the same day. The page load records the HTTP status, the platform and whether a contact or advertise link is present in the markup. The domain rating comes from the Ahrefs API. The activity date comes from asking the site itself, first through the WordPress posts API and then through a sweep of feed paths, and taking the newest item.

Seventeen sites returned a usable date. Nine did not expose a feed we could reach and are marked unknown, which is not the same as inactive and should not be read that way. Two sites answered our page load with a 403 while still serving content normally to a browser, so their platform and contact fields are blank rather than guessed at.

One caveat on scope: this set is deliberately wider than pure macrame. Fiber art, weaving and general craft blogs that publish macrame regularly are included, because that is who a cord supplier would realistically pitch. Sites that mentioned macrame once inside an unrelated decor roundup are not.

All 26 sites, with domain rating and last post

Sorted by domain rating. Note how compressed the top of this table is compared with almost any other niche: the gap between the strongest site and the median is 27 points, where in most categories it is fifty or more.

Nothing in this niche reaches DR 60

Median Ahrefs DR is 28, and the values run 1.5, 7, 12, 15, 16, 18, 19, 21, 25, 25, 26, 26, 27, 29, 32, 33, 33, 33, 35, 44, 46, 52, 52, 54, 54 and 55.

The ceiling is the finding. Across 26 sites there is no DR 60, no DR 70 and no large publisher of any kind, and the five sites in the fifties are general craft and decor blogs rather than macrame specialists. Fourteen of the 26 sit below DR 30.

We audit a lot of niches and this is unusually flat. It means two things at once. Placement is realistic, because you are writing to people whose sites are the same size as yours rather than to an editorial desk. And no single link here will move a competitive term, because there is no authority in the category to borrow. The value is the reader, which is the argument we make at length in editorial link building.

The search results mirror the table. On the day we checked, page one carried domain ratings of 27, 18, 33, 54, 28, 15, 33, 44, 33 and 97, with the only strong result being a Pinterest board. The site in first place sits at DR 27.

Two curated lists rank, and one of them is two years stale

Positions two and three for this search are both roundups of macrame blogs rather than macrame blogs themselves, which is why a list page can win here at all. What is striking is their condition.

mymumthedreamer.com holds position two at DR 18 and last published on 14 August 2024. Its roundup has been sitting there for two years without an update. Directly below it, rebecca-angela.com.au at DR 32 published on the morning we ran the audit, so the two incumbents are as far apart in freshness as it is possible to be while sharing a search result.

Elsewhere in the set, simplyfrayed.com has been quiet since September 2022, placeofmytaste.com since September 2024 and ganxxet.com since January 2025. Seventeen sites gave us a date, nine of them inside 90 days, eight of them older, and three of those older than two years. Check before you write: a third of the dated sites in this niche are not reading their inbox.

What happens after a blogger replies

Every list of blogs ends at the list. The part nobody publishes is what the conversation looks like afterwards, so here is ours. Our database holds 2,056 outreach conversations across every niche we work in, and the shape of them is sobering.

Exchanges in the conversationConversationsShare
None, it stopped at our first message1,47972%
One exchange27113%
Two or more30615%

Roughly one conversation in four gets a genuine back and forth, and one in seven runs past two exchanges. Reading the end states rather than the exchange count tells the same story from the other side: 1,257 conversations were archived, 323 stopped at an initial reply, 255 reached page negotiation, 78 closed, 32 were awaiting approval and 71 ended in a placed link.

None of that is a reason to skip outreach. It is a reason to size the list properly at the start. If you want a handful of placements in a niche this small, twenty six sites is the entire market and you should expect to work all of them, which is the arithmetic behind how we scope a link outreach campaign.

Declines outnumber interest by more than two to one

Where a reply came back, our classifier labelled its intent. Across 1,227 classified replies:

What the reply saidCount
General, no clear intent228
Declining183
Counter offering152
Off topic109
Paid placement offer102
Spam94
Requesting details85
Interested74
Agreeing54
Proposing a deal51
Link confirmed29
Other labels, each under 2566

Declining at 183 is the largest intent with an actual opinion behind it, and it beats interested and agreeing combined, which come to 128. That ratio is worth internalising before you take a no personally: in a healthy campaign most engaged replies are refusals, and the campaign still works.

The other number to sit with is 94 spam. Nearly one classified reply in thirteen is somebody pitching us back, usually a link-selling agency that harvested our address from the outreach itself. Budget attention for it.

102 of the 1,227 classified replies, roughly one in twelve, came back as a paid placement offer, and a further 152 were counter offers, which in practice usually means a price attached to a different request. So a meaningful slice of any craft outreach ends in a rate rather than a yes.

In this specific set of 26, two sites publish an advertise or work-with-me page in their navigation: placeofmytaste.com and teddyandwool.com. Neither published a rate we could read without enquiring, and no other site in the list advertised paid placement at all. That is an absence of evidence rather than evidence of absence, and we have not assumed the rest work for free.

A price is not an insult and it is not automatically a bad deal, but it is a different transaction with different rules. If you are weighing one, what happens when you buy backlinks sets out where the line sits and why we keep paid and earned placements in separate columns.

How to pitch a macrame blog

Sixteen of the 26 homepages carry a contact link. Ten run WordPress, six run Shopify, two run Squarespace and the rest did not identify a platform. Nobody in the niche publishes a write-for-us page, so there is no form and no editorial queue: every placement begins as one email to one maker.

What these sites need is material, not prose. Cord in a colour they have not shot, a tool that solves a knot they teach badly, a finished piece for a photograph, or a pattern they can give away to their list. Offering to write an article for somebody whose whole site is their own writing is the single most common way to get ignored here.

Practical details that matter more in craft than elsewhere: use the maker's first name, because it is on the site and not using it signals a template; reference the specific tutorial you read; and give them images they can actually use, at a size that works, without asking for a call first. Our pitch template covers the frame, influencer outreach templates cover the product seeding variant that fits this niche better, and follow up templates cover the one polite nudge that is worth sending.

Then be patient with the timing. Nine of these sites published in the last quarter and several are one person working evenings, so a fortnight of silence is normal rather than a rejection. That workflow, finding the sites, checking they are live, reading them and writing one email each, is exactly what MentionAgent runs from your own domain, and outsourced link building is the managed version if you would rather not touch it. For the same audit applied elsewhere, see bath bomb blogs, Waldorf blogs and travel blogs that accept guest posts, and blogger outreach tools compares the software for keeping a list current.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best macrame blogs in 2026?

Nine of the 26 sites we audited had published within 90 days of 4 September 2026. The most current were Rebecca Angela, First Day of Home, Cuckoo4Design, Fiberygoodness, Fiber Art Now, Macrame for Beginners, Macra-Made, xoxojackie and My Nourished Home. For pattern tutorials specifically, Macrame School and Bochiknot carry the largest free libraries.

What domain rating do macrame blogs have?

Median Ahrefs DR across the 26 sites is 28, running from 1.5 to 55. Fourteen sit below DR 30 and not a single site in the niche reaches DR 60. That makes macrame one of the flattest craft categories we have measured, with no dominant publisher anywhere in the results.

How do you get featured on a macrame blog?

Offer cord, tools or a finished piece to photograph rather than an article. Sixteen of the 26 sites carry a contact link on the homepage and two publish an explicit advertise or work-with-me page. There are no write-for-us pages in the niche, so every placement starts as a personal email to the maker who runs the site.

What happens after a blogger replies to outreach?

Most conversations stop at the first message. Across 2,056 conversations in our own database, 1,479 never went past the opening exchange, 271 ran one exchange and 306 ran two or more. Of the replies our classifier labelled, declining was the single most common intent at 183, against 74 interested and 54 agreeing, and 102 came back with a paid placement offer.

Do macrame bloggers charge for links?

Some will. In our wider outreach data 102 of 1,227 classified replies were paid placement offers, roughly one in twelve. In this specific set, two of the 26 sites publish an advertise or work-with-me page, and none published a rate card we could read. Treat a price request as a normal answer rather than an insult, then decide whether the audience is worth it.
