Golf Write For Us
Six golf phrasings returned 83 candidate pages. 25 verified as live and inviting contributions, a 30% pass rate.
10 clear Open PageRank 2, and hand review removed 4: freelancer software, a disc golf site, a travel blog and a general news site.
The list is 6 sites. It is the shortest we have published and we would rather print six that are real than twenty that are not.
27 of 83 were off-topic. Golf is a word general sites like having a category page for.
A short list raises a fair question: where else do you find sites worth pitching? One answer shows up in our own prospect pool, and it is newer than link building itself.
957 of our 29,433 prospects, 3.3%, entered the pool because an AI assistant cited them in an answer rather than because they ranked for something.
Those 957 are not the usual suspects. 258 sit under DR 30, 323 between 30 and 59 and 376 at DR 60 or above.
A quarter of the sites AI assistants quote are small. Being the source an answer engine reaches for is not the same as being the biggest site in a niche.
Counted from our production prospect table on 1 September 2026. Domain Rating is from the Ahrefs public API.
Golf is the shortest list in this batch and the one we came closest to not publishing. Eighty-three candidate pages produced six sites we would send anyone to, and the gap between those two numbers is the useful part of this page.
How this list was built
Four contributor footprints ran against golf, golf equipment, golf courses, golf instruction, golf travel and golfing, producing 83 candidate domains once platforms and competitor roundups were filtered out.
25 verified. The 58 failures were 27 off-topic, 21 blocked by bot protection, 7 unreachable and 3 selling placements.
Ten cleared Open PageRank 2. The hand review then removed four more, and each one is worth naming because none of them looked wrong in a search result: an invoicing product for freelancers, a disc golf publication, a travel blog and a general news site that keeps a guest post page for every category it can name.
That leaves 6. We publish the number rather than padding it, because a list you cannot trust is worse than a short one.
Golf sites accepting guest posts
Six sites, highest Open PageRank first. Every one was reachable, asking for contributions, and publishing about golf on the day we checked.
| Site | Open PageRank | Submission page | Domain |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Word On Golf | 4.36 | /golf/write-for-us | lastwordonsports.com |
| Golf Reviews Guide | 3.99 | /write-for-us | golfreviewsguide.com |
| ricksgolfshop.com | 2.43 | /write-for-us | ricksgolfshop.com |
| Brian Harman Golf | 2.18 | /contribute | brianharmangolf.com |
| USA Golf Digest | 2.14 | /write-for-us | usagolfdigest.com |
| The Golf Academy | 2.03 | /write-for-us | thegolfacademy.org |
The range is narrow: a sports network's golf section, two review and instruction sites, a retailer's blog, a tour professional's own site and a coaching academy. Read what each has published in the last month before pitching, because an instruction site and a review site want opposite things. The outreach tools that batch this step are why so many golf pitches read identically.
Why we published six and not twenty
Twenty golf sites would have been easy. Drop the authority floor, keep the disc golf site because it has the word golf in the domain, keep the general news site because its page does say golf, and the table fills up.
Every one of those decisions would have cost a reader time. A pitch to a site that does not publish golf is a rejection at best and silence at worst, and the writer has no way of knowing which entries on a list were checked and which were padding.
So the four removals are named on this page and the counts are printed above. If six is too few for what you are doing, the honest next step is our master list across every niche rather than a longer golf list that is mostly not golf.
What golf editors actually publish
Golf writing splits cleanly into instruction, equipment and travel, and the sites on this list sit in one of those lanes rather than across them. Pitching the wrong lane is the most common reason a good article gets turned down here.
Instruction sites want a specific fault and its fix, written by someone who can explain why it happens. Equipment sites want a comparison you actually played, which is checkable and usually where a pitch falls apart. Course and travel writing wants a round you played and what it cost.
None of these lanes has room for a general article about the benefits of golf. That piece arrives in every one of these inboxes weekly and it is the reason several of these pages now list what they will not accept before they list what they will. Our pitch template is built around naming the specific piece rather than offering to write something.
The twenty-one we could not read
Twenty-one of the 83 golf candidates answered our request with a bot challenge rather than a page. They are absent from this list and it is worth being precise about why.
We could not read the page. That is all we know. Some of those sites take contributions and belong here, and we are not going to list them on the assumption that they do. A list built on assumptions is the thing this page exists to be an alternative to.
Bot protection is not a judgement on the site either. It usually reflects a hosting default or a plugin rather than an editorial decision, and it rises every time we rerun a crawl. If a golf site you know of is missing, this is the likeliest reason, and opening the page in a browser is a thirty-second check we cannot do at scale.
Where to look when six is not enough
Six sites will not carry a campaign, and the footprint search has already been run at its widest. The useful question is what else finds golf publications that would run your piece.
The first answer is that most sites which accept contributions never say so, and resource page link building reaches a different set of them again. A named editor, one specific idea and a short email works on publications that have no submission page at all, and the absence of a form means far less competition for attention. That is ordinary outreach rather than guest post hunting.
The second is the sources answer engines already quote. In our own pool, 957 domains entered because an AI assistant cited them, and a quarter of those sit under DR 30. Being the site an answer engine reaches for is a different signal from ranking, and it points at smaller specialist publications that a footprint search never surfaces.
Both routes are slower than working a list. They are also the reason our own master list runs to a few hundred rows rather than a few thousand.
What to check once the piece is published
Publication is where the measurable part starts, and on a short list every placement is worth checking properly.
Open the live page. Confirm the link is present, confirm it is not marked nofollow or sponsored unless that was agreed, and confirm the anchor text is what you submitted. Editors change links and nothing tells you when they do. Our nofollow link checker handles the first part.
Then watch referral traffic for a month rather than rankings for a week. A golf placement that sends forty engaged readers is a better result than one that moves nothing and exists only in a backlink report. If the link disappears later, link reclamation covers getting it back.
With six sites, the relationship is worth more than the placement. An editor who published you once and had no trouble will usually read a second pitch, and on a list this short that is the only way it grows.
Why a short word attracts so many off-topic pages
Twenty-seven off-topic candidates out of eighty-three is a high ratio, and the cause is mostly linguistic rather than commercial.
Golf is one word, widely understood, and it carries an audience with money attached to it. That makes it an attractive category label for a general site building out guest post pages, and the label costs nothing to add. The page then ranks for the contributor footprint because the word sits on it, not because the site has ever published a round.
Verticals described by longer phrases behave better. Supply chain and mountaineering are not words a lifestyle site reaches for when filling a category menu, so their candidate pools contain fewer decorative pages. The shorter and more valuable the word, the more the search results need opening one by one.
Frequently asked questions
How many golf sites accept guest posts?
We fetched 83 candidate submission pages and 25 were live and inviting contributions. Ten clear our Open PageRank 2 floor and six survived a hand review for actually publishing golf. Six is the shortest list we have published and we print the rejected counts alongside it rather than padding the table.
Why is the golf list only six sites?
Because twenty-seven of the 83 candidates were off-topic and four more failed the hand review. General news sites keep a guest post page for the golf category without publishing golf, and a disc golf publication is a different sport. Filling the table would have meant listing sites we would not pitch ourselves.
What kind of golf article gets accepted?
Something in one lane rather than across all of them. These sites split into instruction, equipment and travel, and they want a specific fault and its fix, a comparison you actually played, or a round you actually played and what it cost. A general piece about the benefits of golf arrives in every one of these inboxes weekly.
Do golf sites charge for guest posts?
Three of the 83 candidates named a price on the page and were removed from the list for it. That is a legitimate business but it is advertising rather than a contribution, and it should be marked as such. The question can also arrive in the reply after you pitch, which is a separate negotiation.
How current is this golf list?
Every submission page was fetched on 1 September 2026. Lists like this decay quickly. On an earlier rebuild of our niche guest-posting pages, 29 of 101 previously published domains no longer verified after 11 days, because the page had gone, started charging or stopped inviting contributions.
Does write for us golf find different sites from golf write for us?
It finds an overlapping but not identical set. We ran the crawl against the contributor footprint rather than against either phrasing, which is why the same six sites answer both. Eighty-three candidate pages went in and six came out, and the ones that fell away are counted on this page rather than hidden.
