Automotive Write For Us

August 2026 · The cleanest vertical we have crawled. Checked August 2026.

Quick answer

74 candidates, and 52 verified as live pages inviting contributions. That is a 70% pass rate, the highest of any vertical in this batch.

29 clear Open PageRank 2. Hand review removed 4 that were not automotive publications, leaving 25 sites.

Only 3 candidates failed as off-topic. Against 37 for plumbing, this is a vertical where the search phrase and the market actually match.

Just 1 was selling placements and 1 had closed submissions. Automotive publishers still largely take pitches on merit.

Our data

We hold 43 verbatim price quotes that publishers sent us in reply to our own outreach. They are the clearest picture we have of what a placement costs when a site does charge.

Link insertions into an existing article were quoted from $50 up to $500, most commonly between $70 and $250.

Guest posts ran from $50 to $1,500, the top figure allowing up to five links.

Permanence is priced separately. One publisher quoted $150 for a twelve-month placement against $250 for a permanent one; another $250 against $400.

Quotes captured 7 March to 27 August 2026 in replies to our own campaigns, across all verticals rather than automotive alone.

Automotive was the easiest of the five verticals to build and the result is the longest list. Seventy percent of the candidate pages verified, only three were off-topic, and a single site named a price. Whatever is true of the trades, it is not true here.

How this list was built

Six phrasings across automotive, car, auto repair, car maintenance, vehicles and motoring, run against four contributor footprints, returned 74 candidate domains after platforms and competitor listicles were filtered out.

52 verified. The 22 failures were 16 blocked by bot protection, 3 off-topic, 1 selling placements, 1 closed to submissions and 1 unreachable.

Three off-topic failures out of seventy-four is the number worth holding onto. In this vertical, a page that ranks for the contributor footprint is almost always a genuine automotive publication, which is not true anywhere else in this batch.

Twenty-nine cleared Open PageRank 2. Hand review then removed a digital marketing agency, a baking blog, a business directory and a transit advocacy site, leaving 25.

Automotive sites accepting guest posts

Twenty-five sites, highest Open PageRank first. This vertical runs deeper than the others, so there is room to be selective about which ones fit what you write.

The range here spans consumer car blogs, repair and diagnostics sites, a sim racing publication and a trade title. Match the subject narrowly: a diagnostics site will not run a buying guide, and a consumer blog will not run a workshop procedure.

What a placement costs when it costs anything

Only one automotive candidate named a price on the page. That does not mean the question never comes up, because it frequently arrives in the reply rather than on the site, and by then you have already written the pitch.

The quotes above are drawn from every vertical we send into, not automotive alone, and they are worth reading before you open a negotiation. The spread is wide enough that an opening number tells you very little on its own.

What consistently separates the fair offers from the rest is whether the price is attached to something real: a stated audience, a traffic figure, an editorial process. A rate card with none of those attached is selling a link and nothing else. We have written up the whole range in how much backlinks cost and covered the paid variant directly in link insertion services.

Why this vertical is cleaner than the trades

The difference comes down to who publishes. Automotive has a large population of enthusiast media that existed long before anyone thought about link building, and those sites accept contributions because they need copy, not because they spotted a market.

The trades have far fewer independent publications, so the demand from contractors chasing local search meets a small supply of places to publish. You can see it directly in the plumbing and roofing funnels. That imbalance is what turns submission pages into rate cards, and it is visible in the reject reasons: five paid pages in plumbing against one in automotive.

For a contributor this means automotive rewards patience and quality more than budget. There are enough real publications that a good piece will find a home, which is the situation editorial link building assumes and the trades no longer offer.

Match the piece to the type of site

Twenty-five sites is enough range that choosing badly is the main way to waste the opportunity. This vertical contains at least four distinct kinds of publication and they want incompatible things.

Consumer car blogs want buying decisions, ownership costs and comparisons. Repair and diagnostics sites want procedures, fault codes and symptom-to-cause reasoning. Enthusiast and motorsport titles want depth on a narrow subject and will reject anything written for a general reader. A trade title wants industry movement, supply chains and regulation.

A diagnostics article sent to a buying-guide site is not a weak pitch, it is a mismatched one, and the rejection tells you nothing about the writing. Reading three recent articles before pitching removes most of this failure mode, and it is the step most link outreach skips.

Where a site is genuinely ambiguous, the submission page usually resolves it. Several of these list the categories they accept and the categories they do not, which is a stronger signal than the homepage.

Measuring whether the placement did anything

Automotive is a good vertical to measure honestly in, because the sites have real readers and referral traffic actually shows up. That makes it possible to ask a question most link building avoids: did anyone read it.

Set a baseline before the post goes live. Note referral sessions, note where the target page ranks for the phrase you care about, and note the date. Without a baseline the result is unfalsifiable, which is how most placement reporting stays permanently positive.

Then check the live page at the four-week mark. Confirm the link still exists, because posts get edited and links get stripped, and neither event generates a notification. We audited our own placement records and found a meaningful share marked as placed with no live link on the page, which is the same failure in a different system and the reason placement reporting deserves suspicion.

If four placements produce nothing measurable and the fifth produces steady referral traffic, that is the answer to which sites to pitch next quarter. Our backlink ROI calculator runs the arithmetic, and how many backlinks you need covers the volume question underneath it.

How this list will change

Twenty-five sites verified today is not twenty-five sites verified next quarter, and it is worth being explicit about the direction of travel rather than pretending a list is permanent.

The pressure on this vertical is commercial. Automotive currently has an unusually healthy ratio of independent publications to demand, which is why only one candidate in seventy-four named a price. As more marketing budget finds the vertical, some of these contributor pages will become rate cards, exactly as happened in home services.

The other direction of change is bot protection. Sixteen of the seventy-four candidates already refused an automated request. That number rises every time we run a crawl, and the sites behind it are not closed, just harder to confirm.

We rebuild these lists rather than editing them, and the rebuild re-checks every row from scratch. That is the only way to catch a page that has quietly started charging, because nothing announces it. Until then, the date at the top of this page is the honest scope of the claim.

Frequently asked questions

How many automotive sites accept guest posts?

We verified 52 live submission pages from 74 candidates, a 70 percent pass rate and the highest of the five verticals in this batch. Twenty-nine clear our Open PageRank 2 floor and 25 survived a hand review for being genuine automotive publications. Those 25 are the list on this page.

Do automotive sites charge for guest posts?

Rarely on the page itself. Only one of the 74 candidates we checked named a price, against five in plumbing and five in roofing. The question can still arrive in the reply, and across all our outreach we hold 43 verbatim publisher quotes ranging from 50 dollars for a link insertion to 1,500 dollars for a guest post carrying five links.

What kind of automotive content gets accepted?

Something matched narrowly to the site. This vertical spans consumer car blogs, repair and diagnostics publications, sim racing and trade titles, and they want very different things. A workshop procedure will not run on a buying-guide site and a buying guide will not run on a diagnostics site.

Why is the automotive list longer than the plumbing one?

Because automotive has a large population of independent enthusiast media that predates link building entirely, and those sites take contributions because they need copy. The trades have few independent publications and heavy commercial demand from contractors, which is what turns contributor pages into rate cards.

How current is this automotive list?

Every page was fetched on 27 August 2026. Lists like this decay quickly: on an earlier rebuild of our niche guest-posting pages, 29 of 101 previously published domains failed re-verification after just 11 days. Check the submission page yourself before writing, and treat any list without a date as unverified.
