Profound AI Review: Pricing, Engines and What It Does

Updated 25 October 2026 · Generative Engine Optimization · By Matt

Profound is an AI visibility and marketing platform from New York: it runs your buyers' questions through ChatGPT, Gemini, Google's AI answers and other engines every day and shows how often your brand comes up. Every price, plan and feature below was checked on Profound's own site on 25 October 2026.

Verdict

For brands, Profound is an enterprise tool: its pricing lists only a free 7-day trial and a custom Enterprise plan. The only dollar price shown is on the agency tab: $399 a month per client workspace.

Profound pricing

The pricing page has a brands tab and an agencies tab. On the brands tab there is no self-serve paid plan.

Which AI engines Profound tracks

The plan decides the engines. The trial covers ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. Agency pitch and client workspaces cover ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. Enterprise lists "Up to 9 Answer Engines tracked".

Profound's own pages disagree on the nine. The pricing page lists ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Exa Search. Its Answer Engine Insights FAQ swaps Exa for Grok. Neither list includes Meta AI, which Profound announced for Enterprise customers in July 2025. Ask sales for the current list before you buy.

On method, Profound says "We focus on front-end user experiences rather than API calls", runs prompts daily, and supports personas, 30+ languages and 150+ regions.

What Profound does

  • Answer Engine Insights: how you and competitors appear in AI answers, with FactCheck for wrong claims AI makes about your brand.
  • Prompt Volumes: in Profound's words, a "dataset of real prompts submitted to AI platforms by actual users".
  • Agent Analytics: AI-sourced traffic and attribution, with AI bot activity read from server logs instead of a JavaScript tracker.
  • Shopping: your product placement in ChatGPT Shopping results.
  • Agents and AI Marketer: drafting, refreshing and publishing content, plus paid AI search ads through Ads Studio.

Profound announced a $180 million Series D at a $1.8 billion valuation in September 2026. Its press release says it serves over 1,000 enterprise brands.

Measuring vs earning mentions

Profound does more than measure, but mostly on your own site. Its agents "generate optimized drafts, and publish directly to your CMS". In Profound's words: "Every Agent run includes an approval step before anything publishes".

Mentions on other people's sites are left to you. Profound's PR page says to "Tailor outreach to authors of top-cited articles in your category" and surfaces Reddit threads to join. For wrong claims about your brand, its homepage says it "drafts a personalized correction" for each publisher repeating them. We found nothing saying Profound sends outreach or places links itself.

How often AI engines name Profound

MentionAgent's AI visibility scans put buyer questions about AI visibility, GEO and AEO tools to ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini between 27 July and 18 October 2026. Of 111 answers, this is how often each engine named Profound:

EngineAnswersNamed ProfoundCited tryprofound.com
Gemini371413
Claude37102
ChatGPT3752
All three1112917

For comparison, Otterly came up in 22 of the same answers, Peec AI in 21 and AirOps in 6. Gemini leans on Profound's own pages as a source. In our panel ChatGPT named it in only 5 of 37 answers, so how visible Profound looks may depend on which engine your buyers use.

Method: MentionAgent production records, answers marked ok, questions matching AI visibility, GEO, AEO or LLM tracking tools, generated buyer-question panel only. "Named" is a case-sensitive match on "Profound" in the answer text. "Cited" means tryprofound.com is among the answer's listed sources. 111 answers is a small sample: read it as direction, not a share of voice.

1. MentionAgent: pitch for the mentions Profound measures

MentionAgent asks ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini your buyer questions and records whether you're mentioned and which pages they cite. Then it finds blog posts in your niche and emails each site's owner a pitch, from a warmed inbox on a separate domain it registers for you. From $99 a month with a 14-day full refund. It doesn't track Perplexity, Copilot or Google AI Overviews. See the outreach agent.

2. Otterly or Peec AI: a lighter tracker

Go after AI mentions, not just measure them

MentionAgent finds blogs in your niche, emails the person who runs each one and brings their reply to you. From $99/mo, no per-link fees.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Profound cost?

For brands, Profound's pricing page lists a free trial (50 prompts a day for 7 days) and Enterprise at custom pricing. Agencies get a Growth plan with full client workspaces at $399 a month each. Checked 25 October 2026.

Which AI engines does Profound track?

The free trial covers ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. Enterprise lists up to 9 answer engines, including Perplexity, Claude, Copilot, Google AI Mode and DeepSeek. Profound's pages disagree on whether Grok or Exa is the ninth.

Does Profound get your brand mentioned, or only measure it?

Both, mostly through your own content: its agents draft and publish articles to your CMS after an approval step. For mentions on other sites it suggests whom to pitch. We found nothing on its site saying it sends the outreach itself.

Is Profound worth it?

It fits enterprise brands that need daily tracking across many engines, regions and personas. Brands get no self-serve paid plan, so the choice is the 7-day trial, a sales call or a cheaper tool.

What is the best Profound alternative?

MentionAgent, from $99 a month, if you want ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini tracked and bloggers pitched for mentions. Otterly or Peec AI if you only need a lighter tracker.
