FATJOE Alternatives: 6 Options Compared on Price per Link

Updated 1 October 2026 · Link Building · By Matt

FATJOE sells blogger outreach placements from $81 at DR10+ to $513 at DR60+, per link, with no retainer. People look for a FATJOE alternative for one of three reasons: they want cheaper links at the higher DR bands, sites with more real traffic, or links they own instead of rent. This page compares six options on price per link, all checked between 26 September and 1 October 2026, and sets FATJOE's price list against 222 prices that publishers quoted directly to MentionAgent users.

Verdict

At DR10 to 19, FATJOE beats most direct quotes. Above DR40, publishers asked MentionAgent users medians of $125 to $200 directly, against FATJOE's $243 to $513, so going direct or earning the link wins.

Cheaper per link: Rhino Rank, from $60.

More traffic per site: Authority Builders, from $160.

Links you earn, not rent: MentionAgent, from $99/mo flat.

Our data

265 one-off prices quoted by DR10+ publishers to MentionAgent users between 1 July and 30 September 2026. 188 of them (71%) were below FATJOE's blogger outreach price for the same DR band.

DR10 to DR19: FATJOE is cheaper than two in three direct quotes.

DR50 to DR59: median direct quote $125, FATJOE $378.

DR60+: median direct quote $200, FATJOE $513.

What FATJOE charges in October 2026

FATJOE publishes a price per DR band for both of its core link products. These are the USD prices on fatjoe.com on 1 October 2026. Both products now cost the same in every band; on our 26 September check the blogger outreach column read $72 to $456. Every band comes with a traffic range, which is the part people tend to skip: a DR30+ placement is sold as 100 to 10,000 monthly visits, so the cheap end of a band can be a site with very little audience.

Blogger outreach includes the writing, a do-follow link, a lifetime link guarantee and a money-back guarantee, with delivery from 14 days. FATJOE takes 10% off for buyers who subscribe to a monthly spend. You cannot approve the site or the article before it goes live; you see the placement in the dashboard once it is published.

Two things stand out in that table. The price nearly doubles between DR30+ and DR40+, from $135 to $243, and climbs by $135 per band after that. And the price is per link forever: ten DR40+ links a month is $2,430 a month, and the tenth link costs the same as the first. Our FATJOE review covers the service itself in more detail.

What publishers quote when you ask them directly

MentionAgent emails bloggers and site owners on behalf of its users and asks for an editorial mention. Many publishers reply with a price instead, and MentionAgent records the price exactly as they wrote it. Between 1 July and 30 September 2026, 265 publishers at DR10 or above quoted a one-off price in US dollars. We took the first dollar figure in each reply, which is almost always their standard guest post or placement rate, and compared it with FATJOE's blogger outreach price for the same DR band. Quotes for a 12-month or monthly term (23 of them) are left out, because they are not comparable to a permanent link.

The pattern is not simply "FATJOE is expensive". At the bottom band it is the cheaper route: at DR10 to 19 the median site asked $150 directly, almost twice FATJOE's $81. From DR20 to 39 the two are close, with median asks of $80 and $120 against FATJOE's $108 and $135. Small sites price themselves high, and a reseller buying in volume gets a better rate than a stranger emailing once.

Above DR40 the relationship flips. Direct asks barely rise with DR (the median at DR50 to 59 was $125, close to the $120 at DR30 to 39), while FATJOE's price climbs with every band. At DR50 and above, roughly four in five publishers asked less than FATJOE charges for a site in their band. Part of that gap is FATJOE's work: they write the article and find the site. Part of it is margin, and that is the part you keep when you ask the site yourself.

The spread inside each band is wide. Replies ran from $8 for a link insertion on a DR26 site to $3,200 for the top spot on a DR59 site's best-of list, and twelve replies asked under $20, which usually signals a link farm rather than a bargain. Some examples, trimmed to the first prices in each reply:

  • DR45: guest post $90, contextual link placement $40
  • DR54: $130
  • DR59: $297 for an article
  • DR72: $250 per general guest post, $125 for a link insertion in an old article
  • DR73: standard link insertion $150, promotional link insertion $250

Method: first US dollar figure in each quote, one row per publisher and quoted price, dated by the publisher’s first reply (1 July to 30 September 2026); quotes in other currencies and for fixed terms excluded. Recounted on 1 October 2026 against FATJOE’s new prices, so the totals differ slightly from the 222 quotes this page showed before. DR is the Ahrefs Domain Rating MentionAgent stored for the site when it was found. A quote is an asking price, not a completed purchase.

Why people look for a FATJOE alternative

  • The price at higher DR. The table above is the main one. Once a buyer moves up to DR40+ placements, the per-link price rises faster than the sites get better.
  • Traffic, not authority. FATJOE guarantees DR and a traffic range, but the bottom of each range is low. Buyers who want sites with an audience move to a vendor that screens for traffic first.
  • No say in the site. You cannot approve a site or article in advance. Marketplaces and direct outreach let you pick the exact site.
  • Renting, not building. A placement is a purchase, not a relationship. When the budget stops, the links stop. Outreach you run yourself builds a list of site owners who have said yes once and may say yes again.
  • Paid-link risk. Google's spam policies cover paid links whoever sells them. See white hat link building for what an earned link looks like.

1. MentionAgent

Model: software that runs your outreach. Price: from $99/mo for one sending inbox, up to $629/mo for eight, with the sending domain, mailbox, warmup, contact lookup and email verification included.

This is our product, so read this entry with that in mind. MentionAgent is not a placement vendor. It finds blogs and sites in your niche, finds the person who runs each one, writes a personal pitch, sends it from a mailbox set up for you, and handles the replies. The goal is an editorial mention that the site owner chose to give, not a paid post. When a publisher answers with a price, as the 222 above did, you see the quote and decide.

  • Good fit: founders and marketers who want links in their own niche and are willing to review drafts; anyone buying enough DR40+ links that FATJOE's per-link price adds up.
  • Poor fit: agencies that need 50 guaranteed placements by Friday. Outreach earns links over weeks, and a site can always say no.
  • Pricing detail: MentionAgent pricing.

2. Rhino Rank

Model: curated links and guest posts, per link. Price: curated links from $60, guest posts from $75, listicle placements from $135 (rhinorank.io, 26 September 2026).

The closest like-for-like swap. Rhino Rank sells the same kind of product as FATJOE with a lower entry price, and its pricing page offers a no-questions refund up to $550. If your complaint about FATJOE is only price at the bottom tiers, start here. See the Rhino Rank review and Rhino Rank pricing for the full tier list, or Rhino Rank alternatives if you are leaving it too.

3. Authority Builders

Model: per link, with sites screened for organic traffic. Price: guest posts from $160 per link (authority.builders, 26 September 2026), rising with authority, traffic and niche. Every product and guarantee is in our Authority Builders review.

The trade is simple: more per link than FATJOE's lower bands, in exchange for sites chosen on real traffic rather than DR alone. It suits buyers who have been burned by placements on sites with a good DR and no visitors. It is not a cost saving; compare it with FATJOE's DR40+ and DR50+ bands, where the $160 floor looks different.

4. Outreach Monks

Model: managed white-label outreach, per link. Price: from $99 per link for DR20 placements, with bulk pricing for agencies (outreachmonks.com, 1 October 2026).

Outreach Monks positions itself as an outreach team you rent rather than a catalog. Its DR20 entry price sits just below FATJOE's $108 at the same band. It fits agencies that resell link building and want a named team and custom campaigns rather than a checkout page. For how the reseller model works, see white label link building.

5. The HOTH

Model: productized SEO catalog, self-serve. Price: could not check. The HOTH's product pages did not show a price we could load on 26 September 2026, so we are not quoting one.

The HOTH is the other big self-serve catalog alongside FATJOE, with links, content, local SEO and managed plans in one account. People usually compare the two directly rather than move from one to the other for price. Our HOTH review and HOTH alternatives cover it in full.

6. Collaborator

Model: marketplace. Price: set by each publisher listed on the platform.

Collaborator is the marketplace answer to FATJOE's main limit: you choose the exact site and see its price before you pay. It ranks first for "fatjoe alternative" with its own comparison page. The work of vetting each site moves to you, and the price is still per link, but you are no longer paying for a site you did not pick. For the difference between buying a post and inserting a link into an old one, see niche edits and link insertion services.

Two readings follow. First, the only neutral voices on page one are Reddit and G2, so read vendor lists (this one included) knowing who wrote them; we have put prices and dates next to every claim so they can be checked. Second, a DR6 site sits at #3, which tells you this search is won by a page that answers the question, not by domain authority.

How to choose

  • Buying DR10 to DR39 links in volume, reselling to clients: stay on FATJOE or try Rhino Rank's lower floor. Direct outreach rarely beats these prices at low DR.
  • Buying DR40+ links: price the same sites directly before you order. In the quotes above, most DR50+ publishers asked well under FATJOE's price.
  • Traffic matters more than DR: Authority Builders.
  • You want to pick the exact site: a marketplace like Collaborator, or your own outreach.
  • You want links you did not pay for and a list of site owners you can go back to: run outreach yourself, by hand or with an outreach agent. Our link outreach guide and blogger outreach tools comparison cover the options.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best FATJOE alternative?

It depends on why you are leaving. For a lower price per link at the bottom tiers, Rhino Rank starts at $60. For sites with real traffic, Authority Builders starts at $160. For choosing the exact site, a marketplace like Collaborator. For earning links through your own outreach instead of buying them, MentionAgent from $99/mo. Prices checked 26 September 2026.

How much does FATJOE cost in 2026?

On 1 October 2026 FATJOE's blogger outreach and niche edits both cost $81 per link at DR10+, $108 at DR20+, $135 at DR30+, $243 at DR40+, $378 at DR50+ and $513 at DR60+. Subscribing to a monthly spend takes 10% off.

Is it cheaper to buy guest posts directly from the site?

At DR40 and above, usually yes. Of 222 one-off prices publishers quoted to MentionAgent users between July and September 2026, 80% of DR50 to 59 sites and 73% of DR60+ sites asked less than FATJOE's price for their band. Below DR40, FATJOE was often cheaper than asking directly.

Is there a cheaper alternative to FATJOE?

Rhino Rank's curated links start at $60 against FATJOE's $81 entry price. At higher DR, asking the publisher directly is usually cheaper than any reseller. A flat monthly outreach tool avoids per-link pricing altogether, though it earns links more slowly and a site can say no.

Can I choose the sites with FATJOE?

You choose the DR band and word count, but not the specific site, and you cannot approve the article before it is published. If picking the exact site matters, use a marketplace or run the outreach yourself.
